All Hallow's Eve 2018

October 31, 2018 -- On a beautiful Halloween evening, with scores of families streaming by our front door, members of the Music Committee served warm apple cider, and spooky music wafted over the sidewalks. [ more ]


New Member Conversations

We will be offering New Member Conversations on Sunday, October 28 and Sunday, November 11 at 11:30 a.m. in the Guild Room.

We will receive new members on Sunday, November 18 with a New Member Welcome during the 10:00 a.m. service and a Celebration to follow in Congregational Hall. [ more ]


Fall Bible/Book Study with Rev. Kathy Cunliffe

Please join us for a Bible study structured around the new book by Rachel Held Evans, Inspired: Slaying Giants, Walking on Water, and Loving the Bible Again. The Bible study will take place with Rev. Kathy Cumliffe on Tuesday evenings beginning on Oct. 30 at 7:00-8:30 p.m., and on Wednesday mornings beginning on Oct. 31 at 9:00-10:30 a.m. and will continue for 8 weeks.  You may purchase your own copy of the book or request that one be ordered for you.  They are currently available for $13.99 on Amazon. A Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary to the End of WWI

November 10, 2018 -- The First Congregational Church presented a special commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the ending of World War I at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 10 in the sanctuary.  [ more ]


Veterans' Day Sunday, November 11, 2018

Sunday, November 11, 2018 -- We invite you to bring in photographs of the Veterans in your life--family or friends--to share for a special display and ritual during worship that morning as we honor those who have served our country in the military.


Thanksgiving Scavenger Hunt--A First Church Tradition

November 18, 2018--The Youth Groups and the Confirmation Class will be conducting their 25th Annual Thanksgiving Scavenger Hunt on Sunday, November 18, 2018. Your generosity will make a real impact on needy families in our community, truly showing how Faith Makes a Difference. [ more ]


Books and Beyond 2018-2019

Books and Beyond, our monthly book club group, will meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month through May.  Anyone interested in books and great conversation is welcome to join us! [ more ]


Community Holiday Dinners

Don't Spend Thanksgiving or Christmas Alone! On Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 22 and Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25 from noon to 2:00 p.m., there will be a Dinner welcoming all, sponsored by Wallingford Community Dinners and the First Congregational Church. Turkey with all the fixings will be served in Congregational Hall; there will be music, laughter and craft activities. Volunteers and donations welcome. [ more ]


2018 Christmas Poinsettia Order Form

Once again you have the opportunity to purchase poinsettias to decorate our Sanctuary this Christmas season.  The Flower Committee is offering poinsettias for $10.00 per six-inch pot.  You may purchase plants to take home following the Christmas Eve services or to be delivered to members of the congregation who are home-bound or convalescing.  You may purchase plants in memory of or in honor of loved ones.  Please complete the form and return it to the church office or place in the collection plate by December 2, 2018.  [ more ]


We Celebrate Jeanette Gross's 25 years of Music Ministry

October 14, 2018 -- Our Minister of Music, Jeanette Gross, has served The First Congregational Church of Wallingford for 25 years.  This milestone was celebrated in style--and as a big surprise--on Sunday, October 14.  The choir planned special music and fun presentations. [ more ]


A Celebration of the Creative Spirit!

A Festival of Arts and a Celebration of the Creative Spirit was held at the First Congregational Church of Wallingford on Saturday and Sunday, October 13 and 14, 2018.  Members and friends of our church family a shared in a celebration of the creative spirit as we turned Congregational Hall into a wonderful display space for works of art in all mediums... Celebrate Wallingford a Great Success!

October 6-7--Celebrate Wallingford. For the first time, our church participated in this year's Celebrate Wallingford, the festival which takes place in the center of town, right outside our front door.  With the support of our church members, it was a great success. [ more ]


Catch the Spirit 2018

September 9, 2018 was Catch the Spirit Sunday, our celebratory kick-off to another exciting program year. Registration for Church School took place and classes resumed.  Following the 10:00 a.m. worship service, our traditional hot dogs, chips and ice cream were served on the Parade Ground. Displays by our Boards and Committees demonstrated the range of ways for you to get involved in our church life and community. Join us for fellowship, the renewal of the Spirit in our lives and the joy of a new program year at First Church, where we believe that Faith Makes a Difference! [ more ]


Wallingford Workcamp 2018--A Blessed Experience

The 2018 Wallingford Workcamp was an amazing experience to all who participated--from the youth from around the country, to the people who were served, to the members at First Church who planned and implemented extensive preparations, as well as many Wallingford businesses and community members who donated their time, treasure, expertise and unbelievable amount of effort. Wallingford was blessed by all who participated in so many different ways--thank you. [ more ]
