Sunday Worship at First Congregational Church

We currently have three worship services every Sunday. All services are performed in English.

8:00 AM Service

The 8:00 a.m. service is a Communion service, which lasts about 40 minutes. At this quiet, casual service, all join in a circle around the Communion table to share the elements of bread and grape juice. There are no hymns, music or Church School, and the offering is placed in a plate. There is a gluten-free option available.

10:00 AM Service

This service is the primary worship setting for most members. Music is offered by various choirs, soloists, bell choir, and congregational hymn singing. Communion is prepared and served by deacons on the first Sunday of each month.

Children attend the worship service with their parents for the beginning of the service each week, except for Communion Sunday when they report directly to their Church School classes.

The Confirmation Class is held prior to the 10:00 a.m. service so that the confirmands can attend worship.

The 10:00 a.m. service is recorded and is aired on local community access cable television several times during the week.

2:00 PM Ashlar Village Service

A third worship service is held at 2:00 p.m. at Ashlar Village, a Masonic retirement community in Wallingford. This service is more ecumenical in nature, as not all of the attendees are members of our church. The group refers to itself as the "Ashlar Village Community Church." Music at this service is limited to traditional hymns. Periodically, the children's musical productions are also performed at the Ashlar service.

Public Access TV Worship Schedule
